Teleproctoring
English Language Examinations with remote supervision
Our era is shaken by the impact of covid-19, but technology is evolving, to facilitate the fields of work and education. So we come to implement the system of English Language Examinations with remote supervision (Teleproctoring), which will benefit all interested parties.
Using this system, examinations can be carried out via computer, anywhere in Greece and abroad. Each candidate will manage to take another step towards their goals, since nothing can prevent them from completing the examination process.
Examination Benefits
- Candidates’ convenient participation in the examination from any desirable and suitable location (home, office), via computer, for the written and oral examinations.
- Candidates’ safety, as they do not need to get to an examination centre and congregate with other people.
- Possibility for people with mobility impairments* and /or people who belong in vulnerable groups to participate in the examinations.
- Calculating the average of all modules and overall pass mark at 50% at all levels.
Mobility impairments*: people who have difficulty moving their lower limbs.
- The examination format is identical to that of the written and online examinations, respectively. All 4 skills are included: Listening, Reading, Writing, Speaking.
- User-friendly examination system/ environment that minimizes the candidate’s stress.
- Technical support for the examination by experienced staff.
Necessary requirements for participation in the examinations
- Computer or Laptop with Windows 7 operating system or later (meaning Windows 7, 8.1 , 10 or 11 – not N versions. (Mac not supported)
- Stable Internet Connection (no mobile data)
- Wired Headset (not with Bluetooth connection)
- Webcam

Description of the Teleproctoring method
- No background noise
- No notebooks, books or notes near you
- Adequate lighting that does not affect the camera
- Only headsets allowed
- Make sure your mobile phone is on Silent Mode, not turned off and close by, but not on your desk
Approximately ten (10) days prior to the examination date and on the condition that you have registered in time you shall receive two emails including the information about the written and oral exams respectively.
The oral examination takes place via ZOOM within the examination week, upon arrangement with the Awarding Body.
- One (1) hour prior to the scheduled written examination time click on the link “Connect to Examination” through the email that was sent to you by the awarding body to begin the examination.
- Stay in the waiting room until the invigilator contacts you
- Your room and identification papers will be checked
- The invigilator will start the test
- Throughout the examination the invigilator is supervising the candidate and communicates with them through the microphone for whatever they may need
The camera and the microphone must remain on throughout the examination.
Caution
In case the candidate is a minor, parental consent is required for the recording of the examination. Therefore, legal guardians must make sure to be present during the initial contact of the candidate with the invigilator
The candidate must connect to the zoom link they have received in their email 15 minutes prior to the scheduled examination time and remain in the waiting room until the examiner lets them in the room. The candidate’s room and identification papers are checked, and the oral examination is conducted.
In case the candidate is a minor, parental consent is required for the recording of the examination.
